Meet Dr. Robert J Applebaum, MD
Oculofacial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon
Dr. Applebaum is a Tampa native who brings an exceptional blend of surgical precision, medical expertise, and aesthetic artistry to Inertia. He grew up in Hyde Park and attended Berkeley Preparatory School before beginning his undergraduate studies at Georgetown University. He later transferred to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Public Policy with a specialization in Health Policy.
He completed a combined MD/MBA program at the University of Florida, graduating in the top third of his medical school class and earning the award for highest GPA in the business school. Following medical school, Dr. Applebaum completed a transitional internship at the Virginia Tech/Carilion School of Medicine, then went on to complete his Ophthalmology residency at the University of South Florida. He further specialized with an additional year of fellowship training in Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the J. Justin Older Eyelid Institute.
Dr. Applebaum specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids and face for both adults and children. His expertise includes upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty, brow lifts, and reconstruction following skin cancer removal, among many other advanced procedures. He also offers cosmetic injectable treatments, including JUVÉDERM®, Voluma®, and Kybella®, using a thoughtful, individualized approach to achieve natural, balanced results.
Outside of the practice, Dr. Applebaum enjoys golf and tennis, skiing during the winter months, cooking, exploring wines from around the world, and attending live music performances.
